We were proud to host the 2025 IORK New Zealand Rental Kart Championships right here at our track in Penrose. While 2026 heads to Pro Karts Nelson, we remain a proud supporter of this incredible national series — and we're excited to share it with you. Watch this space for future events!

What makes IORK special
No kart, trailer, or equipment needed. Everything is provided — just show up and race
True arrive & drive
All drivers race identical Sodi RT8 karts with weight-based categories. Skill decides the winner.
Equal equipment
Open to all drivers. No racing licence, no complicated sign-ups — just register and race.
No licence required
Each driver races six timed heats, with compulsory pit stops adding strategy to every race.
6 qualifying heats
Competitors travel from across New Zealand. Real national titles, real trophies, real recognition.
National series
Racing runs rain or shine, day and night. Changing conditions reward the best racers.

How the event unfolds
Tue 15 Oct
10:00 AM to 6:30 PM. Get familiar with the track, no official timing.
Wed 16 Oct
10:00 AM to 8:30 PM. Extended session before qualifying begins.
Thu 17 Oct
Additional practice from 10:00 AM, then evening qualifying 5:00–9:00 PM.
Fri–Sat
Six timed heats per driver, ~16 laps each. Compulsory pit stops in selected heats.
Sat Night
Top drivers advance under the lights. Only the strongest go through to Sunday.
Sun 18 Oct
Four division finals, trophies to top 3. Prizegiving 1:30 PM.

*excludes dates when Go Media Stadium Mt Smart has pre-booked events, call to check online for availability
*weather dependent activity, we do race in the rain however torrential downpours or flooding may affect the racing, therefore we reserve the right to adjust the speed of the karts or postpone / reschedule the racing
